CasAmica Onlus is a voluntary organisation that, since 1986, has accommodated patients and their families in need coming from all over Italy to be treated in city hospitals. After 30 years of experience in the city of Milan, where we accommodate about 4,000 people a year in four houses, two new Houses were opened in Lecco and Rome in 2016. The houses are located near major hospital centres of excellence, such as Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori (National Cancer Institute) and Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta in Milan, Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico and Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù (Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital) in Rome, and Ospedale Alessandro Manzoni in Lecco.
Accommodation in Milan and Rome is for both adults and children. The accommodation of minors is totally paid for by the association, which supports it with dedicated donations. The house in Lecco has always been open also to the needs of the local area, accommodating families in need and self-sufficient elderly people who need to live in a community. The grant from IMPact Foundation was earmarked to cover part of Casamica Onlus’ operating expenses, as well as for the renovation of a new headquarters in Segrate, near the San Raffaele Hospital.
*In 2020 and 2021, the grant was disbursed through the SGR.
