“We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this great collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind.”
UN 2030 Agenda
The choice made by IMPact SGR to actively engage in philanthropy stems from the awareness that, today, it is incumbent upon entrepreneurship not only to be able to create value for clients, but also to consistently contribute to improving the well-being of the community.
Setting up a corporate foundation that brings its actions together under one umbrella responds to the objective and ambition to give an increasingly concrete form to the effective and professional management of philanthropic activities, in the awareness of the complexities with which those who decide to act in this field have been confronted since time immemorial.
Philanthropic capital has a role to play in exploring, discovering, and getting back to models of intervention, ideas, and principles from which the vision of a more equitable society can emerge, and in promoting and sharing a culture of experimentation with good intentions, which unlocks practical and effective solutions to the problems that concretely burden people’s lives and prevent their full and free human development. Hence the strong inclination to experiment with new models of intervention and to value functional models that can be replicated, that can be consistently translated into actions which effectively respond to the social needs they try to address.
IMPact Foundation also aims to work collaboratively, networking within the Italian third sector, in order to share ideas, resources and solutions, and to effectively promote the most promising operational models in priority areas of intervention.
In fact, IMPact Foundation believes that, in order for it to play its role to the fullest, it is imperative that the culture of experimentation be accompanied by a culture of sharing and collaboration, which for IMPact Foundation is an essential ingredient so that the technical and professional skills, energies and inventiveness that philanthropic capital can set in motion can translate into positive, lasting, and systemic social change. The development of relationships with the grant-holders and partners with which IMPact Foundation works is long-term oriented and centred on specialisation and trust building.
In light of the principles and reasons that led to the establishment of IMPact Foundation, the latter’s activities are inflected by the reference to the framework of sustainable development priorities outlined by the UN through its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Referring to an internationally shared agenda enables it to adopt a clear positioning in the landscape of Italian and international philanthropy, to use a common language and to fit into a global frame of reference in order to think about sustainable development in terms of concrete and universally shared goals, while keeping its strategic focus, identity, and respect for the values underlying the philanthropic initiative.
The decision-making process is therefore focused on ongoing measurement and monitoring through a system of consistently SDG-aligned metrics and indicators that enables the effectiveness of supported initiatives to be understood and evaluated on a regular basis, corrections to be made where necessary, and impact to be maximised.
To the extent that it can, IMPact Foundation wants to champion a philanthropy that can pursue systemic and measurable change by focusing energies, technical skills, knowledge, and resources on joint efforts and unleashing the potential of a collaborative approach.
